SOLIS
This film captures Master Huang Ping 黄萍老师 performing a combination of Baguazhang and Tai Chi to a beautiful original score composed by Archie Jennings.
This piece incorporates circular movements lit naturally by the sun. Master Huang Ping was born in Yunnan Province of China. She was first introduced to Wushu at the age of 8, where she excelled so much that she caught the eye of the Provincial Coach, and became an official member of the Yunnan Provincial Team by the tender age of ten. Master Ping was taught by some of the most renowned and famous people in China; these include Master Sha Guo Zhen who specialized in Bagua Zhang, Xingyi Quan and TongBei Quan, Master He Fu Sheng who taught Huang Ping in Changquan and Taiji Quan, and Master Ren Ji Hua who passed on his skills in weapons.
It was an honour working in collaboration with Master Ping and at stunning Whitstable's 'The Street' - a natural strip of shingle on a clay bank which runs out to sea at a right angle to the coast. We arrived at 6:30am to catch the sunrise.
